In the pig production sector, the Masseria Ramello produces pigs which mostly end up in the “Nostrani del Ticino” product channel of Migros.
At the basis of our pig breeding system is the protection of the animal’s natural and social behaviour; in fact, the mother sows are kept in groups outdoors during the entire gestation period. Only during lactation the sows are kept indoors to guarantee ideal conditions for the little ones.
The dimensions of the stables go well beyond those required by the Animal Welfare Ordinance.
The fodder used in our pigsty comes mainly from our company and mainly consists of cereals (corn, barley and wheat), legumes (soya, protein peas and lupine), whey from LATI and secondary products from the bread production of the JOWA bakery.
